The Restoration Grand Reopening

Last night my husband and I attended the Grand Reopening of The Restoration hotel. They were formerly known as The Restoration on King but they've dropped the "on King" part.

We had never been to the hotel so had no idea what to expect. Let me just say, this place is freaking awesome.

We started off in the lobby where we were handed a glass of champagne and then directed to The Rise coffee bar.

We sampled a coffee/vodka mix which was delish.

We then headed into The Library.
Another amazing space that I could live in.
 Inside the Amethyst Spa
Sunset view from the rooftop pool
Obsessed with these white cruisers outside The Rise.
Inside the hotel's retail shop The Port Mercantile.

We also took a tour of their Signature Suite which was huge and checked out The Watch, which is a rooftop kitchen and bar. The view were absolutely amazing from all the balconies and windows. If you are in the area, I definitely recommend checking out the hotel!

Have a great weekend, y'all!

InstaMeetUp

Last weekend I met up with professional and amateur photographers from around Charleston for a fun Instagram meet-up. We were treated to a walking tour around parts of the city that I'd never explored before so it was really cool.
Here are some of the pics I snapped using my cellphone:

Have you ever been on an Instagram meet-up? Where?

Weekending

Happy belated Thanksgiving!
Hope everyone had a great weekend with family and friends.

My mom came up and we did some exploring with the kids since the weather was gorgeous.

We went to the Charles Pinckney National Historic Site in Mount Pleasant on Friday.

Grabbed some lunch at Zoes Kitchen...

and then went shopping at Mount Pleasant Town Center

After shopping, we accidently found Daniel Island Waterfront Park
It was a nice little park with swings right on the Wando River. There was also a fishing pier and trails. I loved this turtle fountain!

On Saturday, we headed to one of my favorite parks, Riverfront Park in North Charleston.

It was a perfect day to walk along the Cooper River!

After the park, we headed downtown for lunch at Black Bean Co. on King Street.

We then did some shopping on King Street and walked through the campus of the College of Charleston.  I have lived here for THREE years and I had never walked the block over from shopping to see the campus!! Ugh!! It is just so pretty!

The pictures really don't do it justice. I've been on a lot of college campuses and this was definitely one of my favorites of all time. I recommend going on a Saturday when there aren't many people around so you can take pictures :)

How was your weekend? Do anything fun?

five on friday

one.

Depending on where you live, you might not have heard about Megan Hiatt (above holding her twin babies). Megan, with the help of her father Jimmy (a friend of my mom's), was moving out of the house she had been sharing with her 5 month old twins and (ex) boyfriend while the boyfriend was at work. A family member of the boyfriend contacted him, apparently, and let him know she was packing up. The boyfriend left work early (he was in the Navy), came home, shot and killed Jimmy, forced Megan to hold her babies while he shot and killed them, shot Megan multiple times and then shot and killed himself.

Megan is going into her 5th surgery today. A friend of the family has set up a GoFundMe page to help with medical expenses. There is also another page set up to help with Jimmy's funeral and burial expenses. You can read more about what happened here, though there are some inaccuracies in the article.

two.

I made this Chocolate-Bourbon Pecan Pie (also called a Kentucky Bourbon Pie) this week and it was amazing. I used Maker's Mark bourbon because I read that was the best one to use.

three.

My husband and I visited Hampton Park in downtown Charleston the other day. It has a running/bike lane around the park plus plenty of walking paths within the grounds. We really liked it and will definitely be back.

four.
My husband tried out Anna Bell's a few weeks ago in North Charleston with some buddies from work and he hasn't stopped talking about it so we made a stop on Wednesday. I had the Southwestern burger and it was pretty good. I especially love their seasoned fries.

five.
I have been wearing this necklace non-stop that I got from my bestie back in Texas for my birthday. Now I just need the matching earrings ;)

Hope y'all have a great weekend!

They were putting up Christmas lights on King Street last night so Meg and I hurried over to take some pics after checking out the new Beckett boutique.

Obsessed with I cannoli wear OPI nail color. This picture doesn't do it justice though- it's a pale bluish/grayish/white color.

Hope y'all have a great weekend!!
