Book Club Friday: The Night Circus

Hey y'all!
Today I am sharing this book:
Here is what Amazon.com says about the book:

The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night.

But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway: a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors. Unbeknownst to them both, this is a game in which only one can be left standing. Despite the high stakes, Celia and Marco soon tumble headfirst into love, setting off a domino effect of dangerous consequences, and leaving the lives of everyone, from the performers to the patrons, hanging in the balance.

Honestly, after I read the description, I was like meh..It didn't really sound like the type of book I would like.  BUT...several friends on Facebook were just raving about how awesome it was so I thought I'd give it a go.

I must say, I LOVED this book.  I thought it was so unique and creative.  I was scared to finish the book because I just didn't want this story to end.  I am also impressed that this is the first book Erin Morgenstern has published.  I'm sure every first-time author wishes for the debut she has made with this book!

Have you read The Night Circus??  What did you think?

  2. I haven't yet read it. It's always been on the back burner for me, but everyone I know that has read it gave it high ratings! I guess I need to move it up on the list :)
