Washington, D.C. Trip

A few weeks ago, we took a trip up to Washington, D.C.  It was the first time my husband and kids had been so it was a lot of fun to show them all the monuments.  I also got to explore parts of the city that I hadn't been to, such a Georgetown.  I'm anxious to go back and see even more as it is impossible to see everything in a few days!

Our first stop was Arlington National Cemetery.  We are a former military family so this was a must.
We also went to Mount Vernon.  I am kicking myself for not taking the National Treasure: Book of Secrets tour.  Next time!
We visited the National Zoo which is free...you just have to pay $22 to park. The pandas are so cute though.  The little one sleeping in the upper right hand corner just celebrated its 1st birthday.
We went to Georgetown Cupcakes.  My daughter met Sophie there and got her pic/autograph.  She was pretty excited.
Saw these at Dean & DeLuca. I had to stop in there to get a coffee (any Felicity fans out there?!).  I was surprised that it wasn't just a coffee shop.  Neat place and would be great for picking up meals/snacks.
We also stopped by the White House.  There were a lot of protestors outside and law enforcement.  A large delegation of African dignitaries were also in town at the time of our trip, so it was cool seeing all the police-led motorcades speeding around.

We visited numerous other places on our trip.  There was lots and lots of walking!!

Have you been to D.C.?  What are your favorite places to visit?

Have a great week!

P.S.  Check out the Kendra Scott Rayne necklace giveaway on That Sports Girl. Also, check out all the great Game Day ideas for the upcoming football season.  If you're in the DFW area there are tons of ideas for local schools, including UNT and SMU!

  3. Mount Vernon is gorgeous! I went to Georgetown Cupcakes and wasn't super impressed. I'm a red velvet snob, though, so they might have just had an off day. Have a fab afternoon!
